2013 Bristol Motor Club ‘Grand Marques’ Family Day

This year’s Bristol Motor Club Family Day will be held at Castle Combe Circuit on Sunday 23rd June with the theme Grand Marques.

The club, which celebrated its own centenary in 2011, is celebrating 50th anniversaries for cars like the legendary Ford GT40, equally renowned Porsche 911, Lamborghini and Aston Martin DB5 all of which were born in 1963. The plan is to try and get as many examples of the theme cars to the event as possible to sit alongside the usual diverse mix of road registered sports, GT, replica and touring cars, all of which are still very welcome.

The great thing about holding this event at Castle Combe is that it isn’t just a static display, the club also has access to the circuit for parade laps, which for a small fee are open to everyone who shows their car. There will be two on-track sessions, one in the late morning and one in the afternoon; held under a pace car at ‘modest’ speed, so no special safety clothing or helmets are required, and passengers are allowed. Entry to the event is free to everyone, including exhibitors, with a small charge of £10 per car, payable in advance, for participating in one of the parade lap sessions.

There will be other attractions, like a Kids’ Zone for the younger members of the family, competitions for all, and if you bring the family’s bikes you’ll have an opportunity to cycle round the circuit at lunchtime. There should be something to entertain everyone, and the Tavern restaurant will be open all day serving refreshments and cooked meals, so no-one should go hungry or thirsty. The event already has a great reputation for its friendliness, safety, and informality, as well as non-commercial nature.

Please note that entries for this event are now full, with around 300 cars entered, and so if anyone already down to display would like to drive their car on one of the parade laps then Bristol Motor Club have asked they visit the Grand Marques Webpage on Friday 21st June when there will be a further an update. Cost of driving your car on a parade lap is £10.00.
